Sensation Seeking Scale (My results) (designed by Professor Marvin Zuckerman of the University of Delaware.)

You are here: BBC Science > Human Body & Mind > The Mind > Personality and individuality

Thrill and adventure seeking - you score 5 out of 10

This consists of items expressing desires to engage in sports or activities involving some physical danger or risk such as mountain climbing, parachute jumping, scuba diving, speeding in a car, etc.

Experience seeking - you score 7 out of 10

This descibes the desire to seek new experiences through the mind and senses by living in a nonconforming life style with unconventional friends, and through travel.

Disinhibition - you score 6 out of 10

This describes the need to disinhibit behaviour in the social sphere by drinking, partying and seeking variety in sexual partners.

Boredom susceptibility - you score 3 out of 10

This indicates an aversion for repetitive experience of any kind, routine work, or even dull or predictable people. Other items indicate a restless reaction when things are unchanging.

Your total sensation seeking score is 21 out of 40

More on sensation seeking

Sensation seeking is a personality trait expressed in behaviour as a tendency to seek varied, novel, complex and intense sensations and experiences and to take physical risks for the sake of having such experiences.
These experiences could take the form of extreme adventure activities such as skydiving, snowboarding and mountain climbing. But the trait can also express itself in high drug, alcohol or tobacco use.
Men generally score higher than women on the total score and on all the subscales except Experience Seeking. Sensation Seeking Scale scores increase during childhood, peak in the late teens or early twenties, and thereafter decrease steadily with age.
People with similar scores on the Sensation Seeking Scale also tend to be more romantically compatible with each other.
Divorced males score higher than single and married males, and divorced and single females score higher than married females

My results for a "Careers Test" (developed by psychometric specialist Neil Scott of Cassin-Scott Associates.)

BBC Science > Human Body & Mind > The Mind > Personality and individuality

Results

This questionnaire is designed to get you thinking about the sort of jobs that might suit your style.
John Holland's model of vocational choice suggests that people with particular interests and styles tend to favour certain types of jobs. Holland described six main types of person:
  • Realistic
  • Conventional
  • Social
  • Enterprising
  • Artistic
  • Investigative
Knowing the types you most (and least) fit can help you think about the types of role that may suit you.
Read below to find out what careers you seem to be suited to based on your results in the test:

Investigative

Your results suggest that Investigative type work might suit your interests and preferences.
Investigative types prefer thinking to action, they like working with information and may prefer working with ideas rather than with people. They tend to like jobs in which they can research, analyse and solve problems (or come up with new problems!) and prefer using their brains to their interpersonal skills. Typical roles that suit Investigative types are
scientist,
computer programmer,
engineer,
laboratory worker,
pharmacist and vet.

Artistic

Your results suggest that Artistic type work is less likely to suit your interests.
Artistic types are interested in creativity and art, preferring freedom and independence to following rules and procedures. Self-expression is very important to Artistic types and they may prefer to work alone. Typical roles for Artistic types include artist, singer, designer, photographer, musician, writer and actor.

Social

Your results suggest that Social type work is less likely to suit your interests.
Social types like roles that focus on helping, teaching or supporting others and very much prefer working with people to working with things or ideas. They tend to prefer working in teams and like to feel they are doing something useful. Typical roles for social types include teacher, counsellor, nurse, minister of religion, clinical psychologist or police officer.

Realistic

Your results suggest that Realistic type work is less likely to suit your interests.
Realistic types generally prefer action to words, they like physical activity and may prefer working with things to working with people. They tend to favour jobs where they can work with their hands or produce things, and often like outdoor work. Typical roles that suit Realistic types are gardener, mechanic, driver, electrician, farmer, sportsperson, skilled trades, labourers and some engineering and military roles.

This brief questionnaire can't tell you exactly what you should do. It only suggests work areas to think about that may match the way you like to work but it can't tell you whether you have the skills and qualifications for these jobs.

Test - Artists vs Thinkers , ISFP vs INTP

So I compared 2 of my blogs -
one was created when I was IN LOVE - more emotional, inspired, creative. www.typealyzer.com identified me as "ISFP - The Artists"
The second blog was more about who am I, confusion, thinking. www.typealyzer.com identified me as "INTP - The Thinkers"

ISFP
INTP

In both cases I'm I and P.
F and T change is explained- feeling of love makes me inspired, romantic, "flying in clouds"

S and N change (iNtuition vs sensing)
And it looks that being in love makes me more Intuitive also.
According to this post: Sensing vs. Intuiting

Sensors pay attention to both immediate data from their five senses and from their own direct experiences. They are create meaning from conscious thought, rather than trusting their subconscious, limiting their attention to facts and solid data. As necessary, they will happily dig into the fine detail of the situation.
They focus on what is immediate, practical and real, and live life as it is rather than trying to change the world.
They like logic and tend to pursue things in a clear sequence. At work, they will have a clear schedule and like to use their proven skills in tactical situations.
They may be seen as frivolous or short-sighted by Intuitors.
Intuiting

Intuitors process data more deeply than sensors and are happy to trust their subconscious and 'sixth sense', gut feel, intuition or whatever you want to call it.
They are good at spotting patterns and taking a high-level view, as opposed to digging into the detail.
They like ideas and inspiration and tend to have a focus on the future, where they will plan to change the world rather than continue to live in the imperfect present.
At work, they like to acquire new skills and working at the strategic level.
They may be seen as impractical, theoretical and lacking determination by Sensors.

ISFP - The Artists
[ISFP]
The gentle and compassionate type. They are especially attuned their inner values and what other people need. They are not friends of many words and tend to take the worries of the world on their shoulders. They tend to follow the path of least resistance and have to look out not to be taken advantage of.

They often prefer working quietly, behind the scene as a part of a team. They tend to value their friends and family above what they do for a living.

The analysis indicates that the author of http://insearchoftrueme.blogspot.com/ is of the type:
INTP - The Thinkers
[INTP]
The logical and analytical type. They are especially attuned to difficult creative and intellectual challenges and always look for something more complex to dig into. They are great at finding subtle connections between things and imagine far-reaching implications.

They enjoy working with complex things using a lot of concepts and imaginative models of reality. Since they are not very good at seeing and understanding the needs of other people, they might come across as arrogant, impatient and insensitive to people that need some time to understand what they are talking about.

Friday, 12 March 2010 Waste Bin Actually writing this makes me feel kind of good, as I'm expressing myself. But I wouldn't reccomend reading this posts to anyone. As they are depressing... I associate this blog with a waste bin. The dark background represents the darkest secrets of MY OWN MIND... I don't want to keep them inside, I want to get rid of them, throw them in a dark colours of this blog. Posted by DREAMer at 06:19 0 comments Who am I suppose to be in this life? Who am I suppose to be in this life? Is being an actor - is a solution to my question (problem)? If I'm lying to myself, so what am I trying to gain from that? Self questioning helps. It does help a lot. But it came up to my mind only when I wanted to write an e-mail to my friend. So back to acting. Actor- is a person who impersonates other people, who lives somebody else's life, pretends to be somebody. But Is it "OK" to feel the feelings of "that" person? I would prefer to be more ISTJ type http://www.personalitypage.com/html/ISTJ_car.html
Possible Career Paths for the ISTJ:

Business Executives, Administrators and Managers
Accountants and Financial Officers
Police and Detectives
Judges
Lawyers
Medical Doctors / Dentists
Computer Programmers, Systems Analysts, and Computer Specialists
Military Leaders

So my receipt to become ISTJ would be :
change P to J,
a bit of l"s" from love state

Regardless of the test saying (in both cases) that I'm a "P" type, I do like to make lists.
But I'm definitely a type "P" most of the time. This has been proved in university - I hated deadlines.

Judgment or Perception (J/P)
Myers claimed that she confined her usage of the word "judgment" (J) to mean "coming to a conclusion," but again and again she used "judgment" to describe people who make and keep schedules in their daily lives. Myers also used the word "perception" (P) to describe people who prefer to probe for options and thus not be tied to a schedule.

In other words, Schedulers are judicious about schedules, Probers perceptive of options. Schedulers make agendas, timetables, programs, lists, syllabi, calendars, outlines, registers, and so on, for themselves and others to follow; Probers keep their eyes open for chances to do things they want to, for opportunities and alternatives they might avail themselves of. Each orientation has problems. By committing themselves to a set agenda, Schedulers tend to stop looking for alternatives and options and so may never know what they're missing. By keeping their options open Probers are reluctant to commit themselves to schedules and so are inclined to miss deadlines and leave tasks unfinished.

This difference extends to the physical environment as well. Schedulers tend to be neat and orderly. They like their desk at work to be tidy, and their house picked up -- dishes done, bed made, car washed, and so on. Not that they always manage all of these chores, but they are unhappy when their personal space is a mess, and straightening things up is often near the top of their list. Probers, in contrast, have a much greater tolerance for disorder in their physical environment. They seem absorbed in whatever they're doing or thinking about at the moment, and are somewhat oblivious to the details of housekeeping. And so their personal spaces -- office, house, garage, car -- are often cluttered with a variety of objects they have picked up, used, and then dropped when they have finished with them.
(my note: in terms of physical space - Im so much a PROBE "P" type. I sort out stuff in my room only when I'm finally fed up and can't find anything, I'll have guests at my house- and I'll be embarrased if they see the mess, or when I begin a learning process in my room and I feel that I HAVE to clean the room before I proceed to studies. I consider the cleaning process something not worth my time: there are much more important/interesting thinkgs needs to be done, like learning, thinking , creating ect. I guess in future I will hire a housekeeper who will be sorting out all my stuff while I'm thinking about great ideas and important things :).
2 of my flat mates are sorting out their rooms almost every day, or at least once a week and I find that interesting)

Mexico, cancun

While in mexico - to visit Carlos and his family.
To see his brother , discover the history of Mayan calendar and enjoy the beauty of his country.

To visit :
Mayan Ruins

Tulum
The smallest Mayan ruin site among the big three, Tulum only needs a day. These ruins overlook the ocean and are right on a beautiful beach. This is a perfect spot for a picnic, a short swim and sun bathing. Don't forget your camera!

Coba
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes and prepare for an hour and a half drive into the jungle before reaching these ruins. Well worth the drive as there are beautiful temples and pyramids to see.

Chichen Itza
This is the most famous and grandiose pyramid of them all. Bring plenty of film and enjoy the beautifully kept grounds and the new restoration work on the pyramid. A must see Mayan ruin for culture enthusiasts. There are also restaurants, a small museum, and tourist shops on the site. Plan for a day excursion.
